LA YOLE: A WINE ESTATE, A HISTORY

In 2019, La Yole Resort & Spa is celebrating its 50th birthday ! The first campsite was opened in 1969. In half a century, we have welcomed tens of thousands of holidaymakers from all over France and Europe! From its beginnings, La Yole has been a place where people from all over the world can meet up and exchange ideas. Whilst the first holidaymakers pitched their tent here in 1969, the domain’s history goes all the way back to 1771, the year in which the first grape harvest allowed the first bottles of La Yole wine to be made…

If the story of the Domaine has always been linked to wine-making, the story of the campsite has always been one of the heart, thanks to our loyal holidaymakers here to celebrate their 50th season !

The Napoleonic register shows for the first time the presence of a winery at the crossroads of three roads bordered with pine trees. Domaine La Yole was born and travellers could taste its wine for the first time.

The vineyards were bought by Jean Gassier, an agronomist, in the 1950s. For twenty years, he put everything into his winegrowing business. At the end of the 60s, an idea began to grow; paid leave had just been written into law, so why not transform part of the farm into a site to welcome holidaymakers ?

The campsite opened its doors for the first time. 5 hectares of the farm were put aside to welcome holidaymakers. There were no mobile homes back then, just tents pitched here and there. The campsite may have looked completely different, but the friendly and welcoming atmosphere was already there and everybody could enjoy the sun !

The first swimming pool opened ! The 80s also saw the first small houses set up on site, which have since been renovated many times…

A second extension near the pine forest allowed the campsite to receive up to 1273 pitches !

The Adventure Park was opened, and the whole campsite moved into another dimension.

La Yole celebrated its 40th birthday, and became La Yole Resort. For its birthday, the campsite organized a huge concert which has gone down in popular history for those who were lucky enough to attend. Murray Head headlined the concert.

With the reform of campsite classifications in France, Domaine La Yole Resort gained its 5th star, the highest possible honor. This was confirmed again in 2017.

Camping La Yole Resort & Spa is officially 50 years old ! For our anniversary, we had some wonderful surprises throughout the summer. As well as an avalanche of gifts for our customers… Every Thursday, we organized the ”Jeudis de La Yole“! A real street festival where you could discover musical scenes, circus arts, parades, magic, shows….

With more than 300 participants, about ten gourmet stands, 4 freshness counters, 1 ice cream shop, 2 meters of stilts, 4 magicians, three violinists, 1 saxophonist, 4 singers, two guitarists, 1 DJ, hundreds of sweets, thousands of bubbles… It was 50 years of existence that was celebrated on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Domaine La Yole Resort & Spa!

Camping La Yole is now part of the Marvilla Parks By Homair family!
